Cafe Kyiv: “Disinformation As A Destabilising Tool to Democratisation and EU’s Enlargement”

The 24th of February 2024 will mark the second anniversary of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. Since then, the geopolitical environment has drastically changed. European leaders have come together to provide financial aid to Ukraine and have pledged to boost their defence capabilities. They have also granted candidate status to Ukraine, Georgia, and Moldova. Nevertheless, foreign malign interference remains significant and continues to undermine democratic processes in Europe. In the Western Balkans and in Eastern Europe, disinformation campaigns against the EU weaken both democratisation and enlargement processes.

In this context, the panel discussion “Disinformation As A Destabilising Tool to Democratisation and EU’s Enlargement” will aim to discuss the challenges of EU enlargement, democratisation, and disinformation on the second-year anniversary of the tragic Russo-Ukrainian war.
