Matthias Bauer

Matthias Bauer PhD is a Senior Economist at the European Centre for International Political Economy (ECIPE) in Brussels. He undertakes public-policy-related economic research. His areas of research are international trade and investment, European economic integration (Single Market policies), digital policies, and fiscal and capital market policy. Matthias studied business administration at the University of Hull and economics at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena. He received his PhD degree from the University of Jena after joining the Bundesbank graduate programme on the “Foundations of Global Financial Markets and Financial Stability“. Before joining ECIPE, Matthias was the Coordinator of International Political Economy at the international cooperation division of Konrad Adenauer Foundation, Berlin. He held positions at DekaBank, UBS and Mercedes-Benz China. He spent a couple of years working as a business development consultant and advises cooperative farming projects in Ghana.
