Joseph Daul

Joseph Daul became President of the European People’s Party in November 2013. He was the Chairman of the EPP Group in the European Parliament from 2007 to 2014. He is a member of Les Républicains (France). Joseph Daul was a Member of the European Parliament in the period 1999-2014. He served as Chairman of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development and as Chairman of the Conference of Committee Chairmen from 2002-04. Previously, he was a member of the Economic and Social Committee from 1980-82 and the Chairman of the Meat Group of the Committee of Agricultural Organisations in the European Union from 1996-99. He served as Mayor of Pfettisheim (Bas-Rhin) from 1989 to 2002, and is an ‘Officier du Mérite Agricole’, ‘Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite’ and ‘Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur’ in France. He is also a recipient of the ‘Grosses Verdienstkreuz’ from Germany.
