Johan Thomas Bjerkem
Johan Thomas Bjerkem joined the team of the Martens Centre in March 2016. Prior to that, he worked as an intern at the EU Delegation to Norway (European External Actions Service) and at the Norwegian Embassy in Zagreb (Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs). Johan holds a Master’s Degree in European affairs from Sciences Po Paris and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Oslo. In his studies, he specialised in security and energy issues. He also holds a diploma from the Nansen Academy in Lillehammer where he studied literature, philosophy and Russian culture. Johan has developed a real passion for the Balkans. During his time in Zagreb, he had the opportunity to travel across the Western Balkans and report on the political situation in the region. In Oslo, he was active in the Norwegian Students’ Society and was responsible for organising several academic conference, talks and seminars. Johan speaks French, English, Norwegian and German.
