Africa’s Vibrant Social Entrepreneurs

When we read about Africa, we usually read about poverty, war and migration. But this perspective of the other side of the Mediterranean falls far short of the mark. In fact, many citizens in Africa are taking their fate into their own hands and solving social problems in an entrepreneurial way.

As (social) entrepreneurs, they bring products and services to the market with which they specifically address shortcomings in their environment. This lively civil society in Africa shows how much citizens can positively change their own society by taking responsibility. At this event the Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies together with the Political Academy of the Austrian People ‘s Party and the Institute for Environment, Peace and Development will present many examples of this facet of civil society in Africa.
