Zsuzsa Anna Ferenczy
Dr. Zsuzsa Anna Ferenczy is an Affiliated Scholar at the Department of Political Science at Vrije Universiteit Brussel and an Assistant Professor at National Dong Hwa University in Hualien, Taiwan. Based in Taiwan since 2020, she has worked as a geopolitical analyst and academic, expanding her global network and deepening her expertise in Europe and the Indo-Pacific.
Dedicated to strengthening ties between the two regions, her research focuses on EU-Taiwan and EU-China relations, as well as cross-Strait dynamics in the broader context of shifting geopolitical and geo-economic trends. Her ongoing work on Taiwan’s internationalisation, viewed through a European lens, places particular emphasis on Southeast Asia and India—key regional partners for Europe. Zsuzsa has been actively involved in projects on democratic and economic resilience, collaborating with think tanks, NGOs, and research institutes specialising in counter-disinformation, security, and parliamentary diplomacy. Prior to her academic career, she served as a political advisor in the European Parliament from 2008 to 2020, focusing on European foreign and security policy and human rights.
She is the author of “Europe, China, and the Limits of Normative Power” (2019) and “Partners in Peace. Why Europe and Taiwan Matter to Each Other” (2024). In addition to her academic roles, she is Associated Research Fellow at the Institute for Security & Development Policy (Stockholm), Head of the Associates Network at 9DASHLINE (London), Fellow at Agora Strategy (Munich), and a regular commentator in international media.
