Tom McDonald joined the Martens Centre as a trainee in March 2021. Prior to this, he worked as a trainee in the Legislative Coordination Unit and Whip Office at the EPP Group in the European Parliament.
He has previous experience with the US Embassy Ireland, DCU Brexit Institute, Ibec Europe and the Irish Parliament (Dáil Éireann).
Tom holds a M.A. Peace and Conflict from University College Dublin (UCD). He also completed a B.A. Economics, Politics and Law from Dublin City University (DCU). He specialised in politics for his final year. During the 2016/2017 academic year, he undertook an Exchange Student Programme at Boston University (BU).
Tom is a native English speaker, fluent Irish (Gaelic) speaker and has intermediate knowledge of French.
