Sofia Lemmetyinen

Sofia Lemmetyinen holds an MA in comparative religion at Åbo Akademi University in Turku, Finland and an MA in EU international relations from College of Europe in Bruges. Religious peacebuilding is a central theme in her both theses, in which she analysed the Catholic lay organisation Sant’Egidio as a transnational actor and the cooperation between the European Commission and religious peacebuilding NGOs. She has gained work experience in peacebuilding in Martti Ahtisaari’s organisation Crisis Management Initiative (CMI) and in the European umbrella organisation for peacebuilding NGOs, European Peacebuilding Liaison Office (EPLO). Currently, she works as EU Liaison Officer at Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW) – a human rights organisation specialising in freedom of religion or belief.
