Ross Nugent
Ross Nugent hails from Dublin on the East Coast of Ireland. Ross is a recent graduate of University College Dublin, where he achieved an MA in Geopolitics & The Global Economy. The focus of his research was the erosion of civil liberties in Hong Kong and the implications of China’s rise for the Western world. Prior to that, he attained a BA in International Relations from Dublin City University, where he specialised in American studies and completed research on the Middle East Peace Process. Before joining the Martens Centre, Ross produced fintech-focused content at Europe’s largest technology conference. Ross has held numerous positions within Fine Gael, Ireland’s government party, and led the party on campus at university. He has also provided support to members of the Irish parliament, Dáil Eireann. A two-term member of the US State Department Future Leaders’ Council in Dublin, he is passionate about the transatlantic relationship. His main area of interest is EU Common Foreign and Security Policy and Europe’s geopolitical role in the wider world.
