Pavel Svoboda

Pavel Svoboda is a laywer, politician and Professor of European law. He graduated from the Faculty of Law of the Charles University in Prague. After studies he worked as a laywer for the Copyright protection association and then as the head of the copyright department of Supraphon. In 1993 he was accepted as an assistant professor at the Department of European Law at the Law Faculty of Charles University. Since 2001 he is a docent of the European law at the Charles University. Between 2007 and 2009 he was ambassador of the Czech Republic to the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.In May 2014 he was elected a Member of the European Parliament in which he was elected chairman of the Committee on Legal Affairs. In May 2016, the important magazine Politico introduced him among of the most influential members of the EP.
