Michael Gehler

Dr Michael Gehler has been a Professor, the Head of the Institute of History and the Jean Monnet Chair for Modern and Contemporary History of Germany and Europe and European Integration at the University of Hildesheim since 2006. He has also been a Professor at Andrássy University, Budapest since 2021. His research interests include the history of empires; Austrian, German and European history; and international relations, with a special focus on the Cold War, German unification, European integration, the transnational party cooperation of Christian Democrats and conservatives in Europe, and the South Tyrolean question.
