Loredana Teodorescu
Loredana Teodorescu joined the Centre as a Visiting Fellow in May 2016 and was appointed Research Associate in 2018. She is also the host of the Martens Centre’s podcast on women, leadership and EU policies, called HerAndEU.
She is an expert of EU migration and asylum policies, the link between European internal security and foreign affairs, and women, peace and security agenda. Her areas of interest also include EU governance, borders, EU external action, neighbourhood and enlargement policies, and gender-related issues.
Loredana is the Head of EU and International Affairs at Istituto Luigi Sturzo in Rome, where she is in charge of research projects mainly on EU policies and migration. Additionally, she is the President of Women In International Security (WIIS) Italy, and the Head of the Mediterranean Women Mediators Network, launched by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 2017.
She advises different organisations and think tanks and is part of numerous networks of experts including the Fundamental Rights Platform of the European Fundamental Rights Agency and the Consultative Forum of the European Asylum Agency. Previously, she was a senior advisor to the Senate’s Extraordinary Human Rights Commission and she worked for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the occasion of the Italian Presidency of the EU.
After a Bachelor in Political Science and a Master in International Relations with a focus on EU Policies and Institutions, she obtained a PhD in Political Science-European and International Studies at Roma Tre University, focusing her research on EU external migration policy.
