Benjamin Tedla Hecker

Benjamin Tedla Hecker holds an M.A. degree in Political Science, English and French and he was awarded an Erasmus scholarship to study at the University of Geneva, the Graduate Institute of Geneva and the University of Aix-en-Provence. A native German speaker, Benjamin-Tedla is fluent in English, French and good at Amharic (Ethiopian). In the course of his studies and his first job experience, he has conducted research on development politics, security studies and European foreign policy. Hereby, he specialized on the international response to phenomena of transnational organized crime, such as maritime piracy and terrorism in East Africa, the Middle East and South East Asia.

Benjamin Tedla Hecker did several internships at international organizations, media institutions and think tanks, such as the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), the Center for Development Research (ZEF) and Deutsche Welle. He made his way to Brussels through an internship with the Representation of GIZ to the European Union. Prior to joining the Martens Centre, Benjamin-Tedla worked as project manager at the European liaison office of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) in the Multinational Development Policy Dialogue in Brussels, carrying out dialogue programs and maintaining networks with relevant stakeholders of the European Parliament and the European Commission.
