Anne Funk

Anne Funk is a journalist and former government spokesperson from Saarland. She pursued her studies in political science at the University of Trier, the Institut d’études politiques in Bordeaux, and the École nationale d’administration in Strasbourg.

Anne’s career began at the Saarbrücker Zeitung, where she developed her skills as a journalist and editor. Her commitment was recognized with the Young Talent Award of the German-French Journalists’ Prize in 2007. She then moved to the Saarland Ministry of Europe, where she served as a personal advisor and spokesperson, later heading the department for German-French relations and European policy. Here, she demonstrated her strong communication and leadership skills, guiding the ministry through various initiatives. 2016, Anne was appointed head of the Saarland Office in Paris, furthering her expertise in European affairs.

From January 2018 to November 2019, she served as government spokesperson for the Saarland State Chancellery, showcasing her ability to manage high-stakes communication and lead strategic public relations campaigns. She worked as well as a national expert at the European Commission in Brussels under President Ursula von der Leyen.
