Luis Monedero Martínez

Intern

Luis Monedero Martínez joined the Martens Centre in September 2026. He holds a Double Degree in Law and International Relations from Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICADE). For his final theses, he researched the separation of powers and the rule of law in the European Union, examining the role of the European Parliament in the institutional balance, and analysed Spain’s role as a bridge between the European Union and Latin America, with a focus on the Colombian peace process (2012–2016). He also completed an exchange semester at the University of Texas at Austin, focusing on comparative political systems and public policy, and is currently studying the Master’s degree for Access to the Legal Profession.

He interned in the Cabinet of MEP Juan Ignacio Zoido in the European Parliament in Brussels, within the SEDE, INTA and LIBE Committees, gaining direct exposure to EU decision-making and the functioning of European institutions by preparing research notes and supporting day-to-day parliamentary. He also worked as a Legal Intern at Garrigues, one of Spain’s leading law firms, and served as a neighbourhood representative on the Tetuán District Council in Madrid at the age of 20, being the youngest member.

Luis is passionate about International Relations and diplomacy. His main interests include EU affairs, public policy and international law, as well as security and defence, and the study of conservative and Western values.

He is a native Spanish speaker and fluent in English and French.
