Better Regulation – The Influence of Bureaucracy Reconsidered: Towards A Bolder, Simpler, Faster Union?
This event will be livestreamed here and on YouTube.

The bureaucracy costs only in Germany 146 billion euros per year. Germany is a big country, but in the EU, there are 27 countries with the same problem. So, the loss of money because of the bureaucracy, must be enormous.
The EU tried to meet and to anticipate the objections against the overburden of regulations in a proposal of “Better Regulation” (in 2008). However, they failed in their attempt to reduce bureaucracy. On the contrary, the number of regulations has increased. At the same time, it was immediately indicated in the Better Regulation proposal (of 2008) by the European Commission, that “this does not mean deregulation”, but centralisation of power is not the answer either.
Nowadays, the Commission started a new initiative to make the EU “A Bolder, Simpler, Faster Union” . To help boost competitiveness, prosperity and resilience in the EU, a vision and tools for an implementation and simplification agenda is laid out in a Communication accompanying this work program.
The question is: will this new initiative by the Commission really bring a reduction of bureaucracy or will it increase? That has to be discussed.
