Political Session 2025

On 8 November 2025 in Turin, Politicall, the School of Culture and Politics organised by the Vasiliy Grossman Study Centre in collaboration with the Wilfried Martens Centre, returned with a fall session titled “What Has Become of the West?”. Through three lectures and debate, participants examined the historical, philosophical and institutional roots of the Western tradition, from the link between freedom and responsibility to Europe’s Christian heritage and ideas of dignity. Prof. Sergio Belardinelli (University of Bologna) explored “The West and the Novelty of Freedom”, while former Labour Minister Maurizio Sacconi reflected on the culture of work and today’s demographic and technological pressures. Prof. Sante Maletta, introduced by Prof. Giovanni Maddalena, closed on justice, memory and democratic resilience.
