Margherita Movarelli works as Project Officer in charge of the common projects with the Centre’s member foundations. Prior to that, she was Head of Research and Communication at the Italian political foundation Magna Carta and parliamentary assistant at the Italian Senate. She started her professional career as a journalist, covering political and institutional affairs. She worked for the Italian television channel Televita and for the web newspaper L'Occidentale. She also attended training programmes at the daily newspaper Libero and at the correspondence office of RAI Italian public television in New York.
In 2010, she started working at the Italian Senate in the Political Office of the PDL Group. During those years, she developed an interest on the influence of centre-right think tanks and associations in the policymaking process and carried out a three-year research project on this subject. This work led to the publication, in 2013, of her book Think tank all’italiana. From 2012 to 2014, she was also member of the Board of Directors of Italiacamp, one of the leading associations for the promotion of entrepreneurship and social innovation in Italy.
Margherita graduated cum laude in Political Science at the University LUISS Guido Carli of Rome and completed part of her studies at Sciences Po-Institut d’études politiques of Paris. She holds a postgraduate Master in International Relations from the University LUISS Guido Carli of Rome. She speaks Italian, English and French and has a passive knowledge of Spanish.
