Kiss Tamás was born in 1977. He obtained his MA (2000) in sociology at the Babes-Bolyai University and his PhD (2010) in cultural studies from the University of Pécs. From 2002 onward, he worked as sociologist-demographer at DAHR (the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania) Executive Presidium. Since 2007 he works as a researcher at the Romanian Institute for Research on National Minorities, Cluj-Napoca. His research interests include demography and ethnicity (processes of census ethnic categorization, differences of demographic behavior), ethnic mobilization and ethnic stratification. He is the author of a number of books in Romanian and Hungarian and of numerous articles in Hungarian, Romanian and English.
