The Conference on the Future of Europe as a technopopulist experiment

Despite calls to permanently integrate citizens’ assemblies in EU decision making to improve the quality of our transnational democracy, the Conference on the Future of Europe is arguably exacerbating the two main trends that challenge EU legitimacy in the first place: technocracy and populism.
