13th Norbert Schmelzer Lecture
The Martens Centre and the CDA-WI will organize the 13th Norbert Schmelzer Lecture on April 22 in The Hague. A tireless advocate for the promotion of a better society and on behalf of christian Democratic values, Mr. Schmelzer lead the Catholic People’s Party of the Netherlands and served as Minister for Foreign Affairs. As a tribute to Schmelzer’s work, the Board of the CDA-WI founded an annual lecture which will be co-organized this year with the Martens Centre. As in previous years, a speaker is invited to share his or her vision on the appeal of Christian-democracy in a European or international context. This year we are delighted to welcome Wouter Beke, chairman of De Vlaamse Christendemocraten (CD&V) to speak on the topic ‘Active pluralism as a foundation for European Pluralism’.
