Gabriele Scalise
Communications Intern
Gabriele Scalise joined the Martens Centre in November 2024. He specialises in communication and the analysis of politics, development and conflicts. He is interested in Europe’s future, global strategies, equal opportunities, social control and privacy, sustainability, and growth.
Through the years, he took part in promotional campaigns, events, the coordination of editorial projects, advocacy, research, and media analysis; he then advanced his competencies in EU affairs as a Schuman Trainee in the Directorate for Media, European Parliament, during the European Elections 2024.
Gabriele holds a Master’s Degree in Social Sciences, Specialising in Digital Media and Society, from Uppsala University, with additional training in conflict studies, resource shortage and urban sociology. In Uppsala, Sweden, he engaged in both joint and independent research projects with the Institute for Russian and Eurasian Studies (IRES), gaining proficiency in evaluating and theorising conflict dynamics, Russian hybrid warfare and terror activities in both Ukraine’s Eastern territories and Europe’s cyberspace.
He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication Sciences and Culture from the Free University of Bolzano-Bozen. Gabriele speaks Italian natively, English fluently and has a working knowledge of German.
