Olivier Le Saëc
Dr Olivier Le Saëc is a Visiting Fellow at the Martens Centre. He is an expert on EU external policies and on EU democratisation processes.
He received a PhD in Social Sciences from the University of Montpellier and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the Montpellier’s Law faculty in France. He has researched and taught as a senior lecturer on EU democratisation at the Lille Institute of Political Studies and the Universities of Reims and Montpellier. During almost 10 years, he was also member of Team Europe, the network of lecturers for the European Commission in France, and participated and intervened in several conferences and seminars on the European Union.
Beyond academia, Olivier has an extensive knowledge of EU Institutions and EU External Policies. He was a Political adviser for the EPP Group within the European Parliament, where he coordinated the activities of the Enlargment Working group. He also worked for the Directorate for Relations with the Citizens of the European Parliament.
Previously, Olivier Le Saëc also worked as an international expert for the implementation of European programmes in Africa (Tunisia and Ethiopia) and for the West African Development Bank (BOAD) in Togo. He also had the opportunity to work for the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, DG Communication, and the former DG Relex of the European Commission. In parallel, he was also involved in the activities of the European Movement at the local level in the south of France.
